Apparently today is Data Privacy Day 2010. To mark the occastion Google have published their 'Privacy Principles':

As many of you will know, UK GovCamp 2010 happened on the weekend, generating lots of pre- and post-event debate.
Although I wasn't able to make it along to the event itself, catching up on my reading one contribution that stood out was this presentation from Michele Ide-Smith and Paul Henderson on the work they are leading on in Cambridgeshire.

After a really long day at Google on Friday there was plenty to think about. The Googlers gave us an insight into their range of products, from tools to help you make money from your website through to creative uses of YouTube.
There's definitely more discussion with Google to come - they need our help to understand the issues faced by local government, and we've certainly got a role to play in shaping the relationship between Google and the local government sector so that everyone get.... Read More
I'm spending the day at Google's Local Government event in London listening to google talk about their products and services - I thought I'd share their top tips for good websites, since I know lots of councils struggle to get their sites right. Originally written for ecommerce sites (Amazon etc) these tips need some adaptation for government, but not as much as you might think - after all, it's better to get people transacting online, reducing the costs of dealing with calls and paperwo....
