Gov 2.0 is Here to Stay | Adriel Hampton

Last week at Gov20LA (an gov20 unconference held out on the West Coast of the US for the first time, expertly pulled together by @You2Gov @Lovisatalk) I met a long time Twitter hero of mine, Adriel Hampton.
Not only is Adriel one of the nicest people you .... Read More

Gov 2.0 LA on GovFreshTV

Literally just back from #Gov20LA - and lo and behold what appears in my Twitter stream but GovFresh's video of the event!

More on the event itself shortly over here, but for now check this out for a flavour of what went on over the weekend.

Local Gov Digital Engagement - in at the deep end!

As many of you will know, UK GovCamp 2010 happened on the weekend, generating lots of pre- and post-event debate.

Although I wasn't able to make it along to the event itself, catching up on my reading one contribution that stood out was this presentation from Michele Ide-Smith and Paul Henderson on the work they are leading on in Cambridgeshire.

Plenty of lessons on approaches to researching and boosting local digital engagement.

A week in US, UK and Australian Open Government

Well what a week it has been in the world of Gov20 and digital engagement.

First the UK hit us with Smarter Government, followed up with a quick one two from Australia and its Gov20 Taskforce and then (never ones to be beaten) the US with the release of their Open Government Directive (complete with live and interactive online discussion between the White House leads and the rest of the world via Facebook and other such fancy dan things).

Whatever next aye? Policy documents that the average Joe can understand? Now THAT would be engaging! ;-)

Great advice to local government from @demsoc as follow up to their talk at the LGIU Social Media Conference last week.

Spotted by @darenbbc and shared on Twitter, I thought it might be worth sharing with the FutureGov Network as well as it might interest a fair few of you.

You might, quite understandably, say "nothing" given the UK has opted for "Digital Engagement" over "Gov 2.0" as its chosen matra, nonetheless the video series does feature a number of interesting takes on the impact and implications of new technologies on people powered government.
Take a look at their site to hear from the likes of htt.... Read More
